Pool Noodle Thanksgiving Turkey Wreath

This fall we have a lot of things to be thankful for including this creative turkey wreath made with an Armacell Tundra pool noodle! This simple and fun craft is perfect for your Thanksgiving celebration and is a cheerful welcome to your guests coming to the door.

Materials

  • One Armacell pool noodle
  • Scissors
  • Low temperature hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • 70 yards of tulle, cut into one inch strips that are 18″ in length (Red, orange and yellow)
  • Brown yarn
  • Two small Styrofoam balls (about the size of ping-pong balls)
  • One small Styrofoam cone
  • Three toothpicks
  • One sheet of red craft foam
  • Black and yellow acrylic paint and paintbrushes

Instructions

  1. Begin by making a circle with a pool noodle by bending and securing the ends of noodle with hot glue. Spread hot glue using glue gun evenly on ends of noodle and apply pressure to push ends together getting a secure seal. Hold together for approximately 3 - 5 minutes until glue cools and noodle stays in a circle.
  2. Paint two black circles on the white foam balls to make the turkey’s eyes. Paint the foam cone yellow to use as the turkey’s beak. Set aside to dry.
  3. Wrap the bottom 1/3 of the wreath in brown yarn keeping the yarn tight so none of the pool noodle shows through. Tie the yarn securely and cut off.
  4. Take the cut one inch strips of tulle and create “feathers” around sides and the top of the pool noodle by tying five pieces of one color tulle around the pool noodle. Then alternate with the other two colors all the way around the remaining 2/3 of the wreath, using five strips of tulle for each section.
  5. Insert toothpicks into each eye and the beak foam triangle. Insert the toothpicks into the wreath in the middle of the brown yarn.
  6. Fold a piece of red craft foam in half and cut out the waddle using rounded edges, making sure to make it skinny at the top where the fold is and wider at the bottom.
  7. Drape the waddle over the yellow cone beak and secure it with hot glue.
  8. Hang your new turkey wreath and enjoy!
