Giving Back in Local Communities and Going Beyond Better to Support A Circular Economy

Armacell AMERICAS is embarking on a new pilot volunteer and donation program in Chapel Hill, NC. The program will build on the Global Armacell Day initiative and support local not-for-profits within the local communities of its regional office, in the Triangle – Chapel Hill – Durham area.

Armacell recently partnered with Framer Foodshare in the month of March to double the impact of the donations they received by agreeing to match up to $3000 in donations. Like Armacell, Farmer Foodshare are innovators, thinking outside of the box to create a circular economy. Farmer Foodshare switched from a linear “make-take-dispose” economy to a circular model based on reduce, reuse, recycle. Farmer Foodshare works to shorten the food mile, divert food waste, and helps local farmers and food-insecure folks within our community. As a global company that thinks locally, we are proud to support an organization who shares our core values.

With Armacell’ s help, Farmer Foodshare raised over $24,000! These donations will go towards initiatives like:

  • Supporting 45 local, family-scale farmers through its wholesale market and local food hub
  • Creating over $500,000 in sales for their farms, circulating back through our local economy
  • Distributing food equitably, with 540,000 lbs. contributed to the emergency food system
  • Launching the first-ever Farmer Mini-grants program, aiming to support historically excluded producers such as women-owned and BIPOC-owned farms.
