Groundbreaking ceremony in South Korea

6 November 2019 - We are pleased to announce that we hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on 29 October 2019 to kick off construction of our new office and manufacturing facility in South Korea. The greenfield site is located in the Cheonan Foreign Investment Zone, which is managed by the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation. It is also sited next to the Armacell JIOS Aerogels (AJA) joint venture facility, putting us in close proximity to our aerogel blanket production.

The official ceremony was hosted by the General Manager of Korea, Jaeyoung Lee, and the Cheonan Plant Manager, Jinwon Kim. Representatives of the architecture firm, construction company and sub-contractors also participated in this event.

The present location has served our business in the past and following our continuous expansion over the past seven years, we require more space in terms of office, production and warehousing capacity to leverage the growth we expect in the country.

Once construction is completed in Q2 2020, we will have 15% more space to include an additional oven and 30% more storage capacity. The new manufacturing facility will also act as the driving force towards a single consolidated setup for Armacell and AJA, as well as creating an even better working environment for our people.

We are excited to begin operations by Q4 2020 as the new site reinforces our aim to grow Armacell’s manufacturing footprint in Asia and strengthen our presence in this high-growth market.
