Environmental Achievements

2019: Armacell's Thimister, Belgium location reaches 1 billion recycled plastic bottles used during the production of 100% post-consumer PET, ArmaForm.
2019: Armacell announced the release of ArmaSound MTD, an easy to install acoustical tape that reduces STC up to 7-points.
2018: Armacell's Chapel Hill, NC location wins the prestigious Gold Level NIA Safety Award.
2018: Armacell launches a new insulation pipe support, ArmaFix® EcoLight with a 100% post-consumer recycled PET load-bearing core, that thermally isolates the pipe from its fixing point and protects equipment against condensation and energy losses.
2017: Armacell Canada was awarded the Ontario Business Achievement Awards (OBAA) Sustainability Award by the Ontario Chamber of Commerce for demonstrating environmental leadership.
2017: Armacell became the first manufacturer of elastomeric insulation materials to introduce a return system for its off-cuts in Germany to reduce waste and conserve resources.
2016: Armacell's Dallas, GA manufacturing facility achieves 1,000,000 safe work hours after 13 years of incident-free work.
2015: Armacell's manufacturing facilities in Mebane, NC and Dallas, GA were awarded Gold Level NIA Safety Awards.
2014: All U.S. Armacell locations receive their Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Award Program (SHARP) certification from OSHA.
2013: ERM works with Armacell to conduct a Worldwide Environmental Audit performed at all Armacell manufacturing facilities, revealing no environmental issues.
2012: Armacell develops the first solvent-free adhesive for installing flexible elastomeric foams in order to meet the ever-increasing requirements of green-building practices.
2011: Armacell further establishes a Code of Conduct empowering employees worldwide to act sustainably and ethically.
2010: Armacell wins the prestigious AVK Innovation Prize for its fully recyclable ArmaFORM PET product in the category Environment.
2009: Armacell becomes the first manufacturer of flexible technical-insulation materials in the world to undergo an ecobalance analysis (Life Cycle Assessment), demonstrating that the use of ArmaFlex products save 140 times more energy than is required for their production, transport and disposal.
2009: Armacell becomes a founding member of the European Industrial Insulation Foundation (Eiif), the purpose of which is to promote the use of optimized insulation systems in industrial plants.
2008: After the earthquake in Sichuan Province, China, Armacell and Armacell employees made a substantial donation of 25,000 euros to aid fellow employees affected by the disaster as well as organizations such as the Red Cross working in the area.
2007: Armacell reduces measurable air pollutants at its largest manufacturing facility located in Münster, Germany by 90% by installing an exhaust-air-combustion system.
2006: Armacell’s Thai subsidiary receives the prestigious Prime Minister’s Industry Award for its innovative energy-management program.
2006: Armacell joins the U.N. Global Compact, the world’s most important business network for sustainable globalization. The members of the Global Compact commit themselves to promoting the implementation of ten fundamental principles involving environmental protection, compliance with labor standards, combating corruption and the general protection of human rights.
2005: The Panyu, China location is certified for it's ISO 14001 environmental certificate.
2005: Armacell receives the Ethics in Business Award for its exceptional commitment to the environment and social issues.
2005: A Tsunami relief fund is set up resulting in donations of 50,000 euros benefiting long-term humanitarian and ecological projects in the area.
2003: Armacell establishes an integrated management system bringing together quality management and environmental protection under one harmonized system.
2001: Armacell commissions the Centre for Sustainable Building at the University of Kassel, Germany, to carry out a scientific study on the potential for energy savings by insulating heating and hot-water pipes with ArmaFlex.
2000: Armacell Iberia discontinues use of HCFCs in the manufacture of its polyethylene products, replacing it with environmentally friendly isobutene.
