Shock Absorption: G-Max / HIC / Deformation

ASTM F1936 2015 Evaluation of Multiple Synthetic Turf Systems with Multiple thicknesses of foam used as an Elastic Layer. (G-MAX)

Summary:

A total of 3 turf samples were tested. One of the samples did not require any infill. The other two were an infill system. The foam thicknesses tested were nominally 3/8” and 5/8”. All testing was performed over a concrete slab by third party lab. The slab depth was nominally 6”. Equipment methods conforming to ASTM F1936 2015 were used. Full tests available upon request.

Testing Procedures:

Testing was conducted according to ASTM F1936 2015. The testing climate was 73.4°F, 45% relative humidity.

Test Results:

The table below contains the average performance values obtained on the evaluated sport surface system, as well as the requirements of EN 14904 2006.

System 1:A field hockey type turf with a nominal pile height of 1/2”. No infill was used for this system.

5/8” Foam                   105

System 2:An infilled system with pile length of nominally 1.75”. Infill/sand was provided by Armacell. Infill was placed to a nominal depth of 1.25”, leaving approximately 0.5” of the piles exposed.

Testing Procedures:

Testing was conducted according to ASTM F355-16e1. The testing climate was 75°F, 42~45% relative humidity.

Testing was conducted according to ASTM F1989-17. The testing climate was 70°F, 42~43% relative humidity.
