Drainage Infiltration

Third Party Testing: Provided by (TSI) Testing Services Inc.

Infiltrometer Drainage, 1.75 Turf, 20mm TU-2 Pad, Ridges Up

Test Scope:

An infiltrometer is used to measure the rate of water infiltration into soils or other porous medias. The double ring infiltrometer employs two rings: an inner and an outer ring. The objective is to create a one-dimensional flow of water from the inner ring, with the outer ring helping control the flow into the inner ring, under a constant head pressure of 31 ± 5mm depth. After a ten-minute acclimation period of equalizing and adjusting flow rates, the technician begins recording the amount of gallons used to maintain the constant head pressure of 31 ± 5mm depth, equalized between the inner and outer rings for a duration of twenty minutes. The gallons recorded are fed into formulas that convert to drainage rates per hour, normalized to the water temperature at the time of the test (viscosity). The test set up consisted of placing the infiltrometer on top of the infilled turf with the 20mm TU-2 underlayment (ridges up) under the turf. Consequently, vertical evacuation of the water drained thru the infill system, exiting via the perforation holes punched into the turf, and continued to drain laterally by channeling into the ridges, and eventually out the perforation holes of the underlayment vertically.
