Playgrounds come with hazards and risks so it’s important that designers and maintenance employees consider safety. The National Program for Playground Safety (NPPS) established National Playground Safety Week as a time to focus on children’s outdoor play environments and show gratitude for those who effectively maintain playgrounds. Ensuring safety measures are in place to protect kids is a wonderful task to complete to celebrate National Playground Safety week starting on April 24th, 2023.

Parks and playgrounds help children learn and develop in a physical environment but being safe is the main goal that should be taken into consideration. Often made of metal, plastic or wood, playgrounds are built to withstand jumping and running children. These surfaces can be unforgiving, so it is important that we protect and cover equipment and grounds to reduce potential injuries.

Armacell’s portfolio includes foam tube and padding products that can be wrapped around hard surfaces or sharp edges to reduce the risk of injuries. As part of our ArmaComp range, the OleCell® CE 180 product is a polyethylene tubular foam with a wear resistant outer layer that is an ideal protection choice for playgrounds, designed to encase poles, fencing, rails and linear supports. Plus it's co-extruded tough outer skin, stands up to the most demanding applications for years of outdoor protection and fun in the sun.
