The Synthetic Turf Council (STC) is a 501(c)6 non-profit trade association serving the synthetic turf industry. Their mission is to serve as the global forum to promote, develop, grow, and advocate for the synthetic turf industry. As a member of STC , Armacell was thrilled to support their annual community service project for the Canadian National Institute for the Blind’s (CNIB) Lake Joe renovations.

For over 60 years, CNIB Lake Joe has been the only fully accessible camp for people with sight loss in Canada providing enriching experiences. With a mission of helping people living with sight loss safely challenge the perception of their own abilities and realize their full potential, CNIB supports these individuals and helps them find a voice to advocate for themselves and educate others.

Thanks to STC member support, CNIB Lake Joe recently expanded and updated their facilities. The STC donated a 40m x 20m synthetic turf soccer pitch and mini golf course to allow guests to gain the social, emotional and physical benefits of participating in sporting activities. On May 17, 2021 CNIB Lake Joe broke ground with the removal of the topsoil and balancing of the sub grade. In June, the project continued with the base excavation as well as drainage and curbing installations. The soccer pitch turf was delivered and successfully installed in late June with new netting and soccer goals installed in July. The mini golf course construction began on August 8th and is also now completed and ready for its first players. There will be a dedication ceremony at CNIB Lake Joe in conjunction with a 60th Anniversary celebration on Friday, September 24th.

Armacell is proud to be a STC member and support community service projects. This particular renovation project hit close to home because our innovative ArmaSport turf underlayment padding is a specifically engineered solution for a variety of indoor and outdoor athletic fields, facilities, and equipment that provides excellent shock absorption and cushions player’s impact against hard surfaces. Armacell is everywhere.
