UL is a safety certification organization established to develop standards and testing to help safeguard manufacturers and consumers from unsafe products. Founded in 1894 by William Henry Merrill as the Underwriters’ Electrical Bureau, a bureau of the National Board of Fire Underwriters, it’s more familiar to us today as Underwriters Laboratories, more officially as UL. UL certifies, validates, tests, verifies, inspects, audits, advises, and educates. They work directly with companies to demonstrate safety, confirm compliance, enhance sustainability, manage transparency, deliver quality and performance, strengthen security, protect brand reputation, build workplace excellence, and advance societal well being.

Armacell is excited to announce that our ArmaComfort® mechanical and thermal decoupling tape (formerly ArmaSound® MTD Tape) has been recently UL Certified in Canada for use in wall and partition facings, floor system components and accessories. Previously, ArmaComfort MTD Tape was UL classified in the U.S., however, our commitment to raising standards and efficient testing has achieved a new UL certification in Canada. ArmaComfort MTD Tape is a specially formulated elastomeric foam that is a highly effective sound decoupling material for walls, and it provides excellent sound transmission isolation at mid-level to high frequencies. This easy-to-install alternative to resilient channel or isolation clips limits sound from passing through the wall, resulting in quieter, more comfortable rooms with increased privacy. Ideal locations for our ArmaComfort MTD Tape are in places with structure-borne noise and high occupancy levels such as healthcare, educational, commercial, hospitality, worship, and government facilities or any space where quiet and privacy are of concern.
