Construction InteriorResource for mechanical insulation contractors

Armacell understands the importance of the insulation contractor in the selection and proper installation of mechanical insulation products like AP ArmaFlex® for pipes and ducts. Insulation contractors routinely make critical decisions that can – for better or for worse – affect the outcome of the project.  These decisions must take into account a variety of factors, including building codes, specific application challenges, insulation capability, as well as time and budget constraints.

Armacell strives to help insulation contractors rise to the challenge of their job in a variety of ways.  First, we work closely with an extensive network of distributors so that they can provide a quick response on pricing and availability of our products. Second, our Technical Managers and Installation Specialists, all of whom are experts in the selection and application of all our foam materials, are fully prepared to respond to any technical questions that may arise.

Long-Lasting InstallationsAP Armaflex on Pipes

At Armacell we understand the pressure that mechanical-insulation contractors face when it comes to first-cost versus lifetime-cost.  Our products are designed for the long haul – and end up saving schools, hospitals and other facilities significantly in replacement costs and disruption.  Pipe insulation and duct wrap products like AP ArmaFlex may cost more up front, but the closed-cell foam structure resists moisture and tears that are known to compromise the performance and longevity of less costly products. If fibrous insulation gets wet or is damaged, its R value is negatively impacted and may even need to be replaced prematurely.  This is not the case with AP ArmaFlex, AP CoilFlex or AP SpiralFlex – three insulation solutions that provide both thermal and acoustic benefits without the risk of releasing fibers into airstream. Plus, all AP products resists mold growth and are suitable for air plenums.

Qualified Installer ProgramAQIP Training

Installing elastomeric closed-cell foam requires a special skill set.  Fortunately, Armacell’s Qualified Installer Program (AQIP) takes the guesswork out of choosing suitable insulation installers for the job. Installers who have completed this program can document that they are specifically trained in the installation of elastomeric closed-cell foam.  Trained by our own elastomeric foam application specialist, contractors and installers all over the country have learned:

  • How to cut, glue, seam and seal the material

  • How to fabricate covers for fittings that fit like a glove

  • How to use ArmaFlex approved adhesives, tapes, coatings and pipe hangers

  • Specialized techniques (via hands-on training) that ensure a successful, long-lasting installation

These contractors receive a certificate showing that they have completed the program.  Their names also go into our database of qualified installers, so that you know you have chosen the best installer for the job.
