Investing in Our Future

America's infrastructure connects our communities as a modern nation. In order to grow with the times, our infrastructure must be expanded and maintained constantly. It is represented in many forms such as highways, roads, bridges, water supplies, sewers, ports, mass transit, aviation, telecommunications, and railway systems. More than half of the federal transportation spending is used for much needed highway projects.

Due to the seasonal nature of infrastructure construction (starting after the last freeze and completing before the next) there are always aggressive timelines. Knowing this, contractors, engineers and architects need to find simple, effective, and approved solutions to meet these strict requirements. Road and highway construction and water conveyance projects can be completed faster with the use of precast concrete box culverts instead of site-pouring concrete. On both of these types of construction projects, culverts need to be properly sealed between the structures with suitable foam gaskets.

Armacell Approved By PennDOT

Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) rigorous product scrutiny process requires consistent, reliable testing results and tolerances. Being approved to be on the PennDOT Bulletin 15 qualified products list means customers, converters, fabricators, and specifiers can rest assured that included product solutions have demonstrated a high performance in accordance with department specifications. Armacell has five PennDOT Bulletin 15 qualified products for precast culverts and two for prestressed bridge beams.

Converter or Fabricator Benefits

  • Both Monarch® and EnsoLite® are high-performance elastomeric, closed-cell foams, which offer low water absorption, low-temperature resistance, high ozone resistance, exceptional compression deflection, flexibility, and the durability required to make an effective gasketing product to use between interlocking concrete structures.
  • Monarch is produced in blocks or buns, while EnsoLite is produced in continuous rolls.
  • Gasket fabricators may find efficiency when converting EnsoLite continuous rolls into long sections of gasketing or tape. This efficiency is a benefit not only to the convertor, but also the installer as longer segments of gasketing are easier to apply. These advantages not only reduce production and installation costs, they also increase savings for the end user.
  • Both Monarch and EnsoLite are also proudly made in the USA.
